Our journey began in 2016 with a bold vision to pioneer Agri-Photovoltaic projects in Nepal. Our goal was to also create a Research and Training Center focused on photovoltaic (PV) systems, monitoring climatic changes, preserving and managing water resources, improving soil quality, and transforming traditional agriculture into a more productive and sustainable practice. After facing numerous challenges over the years, we are proud to announce that, on April 15th, 2023, we successfully commissioned Nepal’s first utility-scale agrivoltaics project, with a capacity of 6.8 MW AC (8.4 MW DC). This project, a first of its kind in Nepal, now provides electricity to the Nepal Electricity Authority under a Power Purchase Agreement. This was the first and critical step in our broader mission since we are committed to educating and empowering communities by demonstrating how solar energy can be seamlessly integrated with modern, technology-driven farming practices. Our vision is to help communities achieve both energy and agricultural independence in just a few years.

To that end, we are currently designing and implementing the agricultural component of our project, as well as constructing a research and community center. This center will offer training on renewable energy, energy storage, carbon literacy, agriculture, soil-water management, and more. Our aim is to develop a sustainable model that generates electricity without compromising agricultural productivity. Over the next 1-2 years, we plan to build and assist other farmers and communities in establishing similar agrivoltaics projects, ranging from 10 MW to 500 MW per project.

Looking ahead, we are also exploring the development of Green Data Centers, a comprehensive Hydrogen Fuel Cell industry, and the production of Green Hydrogen, Ammonia, Green Urea, and other essential fertilizers for food security. Additionally, we envision a new era of green hybrid transportation systems and industries. We believe we can achieve these ambitious goals within the next 2-4 years, with solar energy as our foundation. We are already in advanced negotiations with various stakeholders to make this vision a reality.

As we continue to execute our plans and vision, we humbly seek the support of all our well-wishers. I have full faith that, together, we can create a greener and prosperous future for Nepal.

Sincerely,

Galab Bahadur Dhungana
